The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Braum: A classic story of the adventure of a girl and her dog who find themselves in a mysterious foreign land with only one wish: to find a way to return home. They make some unique friends along the way who all want to find something they’re all missing.
Each week will have a balanced focus on reading the book as well as watching the film. We will spend time looking into the themes and differences of the book and film.
Begin reading longer fiction books.
Understand more difficult stories at a deep level.
Be able to discuss the themes of the book
Learn about how to display emotions to become your character.
Reading – Circle reading together and discussions of the content of the book
Writing – Reading comprehension and critical thinking questions
Listening – Watching the Wizard of Oz film and comparison of the book and movie
Speaking – Acting out parts of the book / movie and singing songs from the movie
